Political leaders are moving to consolidate partnerships ahead of the 2027 General Election. President William Ruto, who leads the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), said today that mechanisms are being established for structured engagement with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party.

Speaking after presiding over the UDA National Executive Committee meeting at State House, Nairobi, Dr. Ruto said the discussions aim to deepen political cooperation, build consensus on shared priorities, and provide a clear framework for dialogue, coordination, and partnership.

“The objective is to strengthen the ongoing political partnership, support stable governance, and lay the foundation for a formal coalition arrangement ahead of the 2027 General Election,” he added.

The meeting, which also reviewed UDA’s progress and outcomes of recent grassroots elections, comes just days after ODM, led by party leader Oburu Odinga, convened its first Central Management Committee meeting since the death of Raila Odinga. That meeting focused on charting the party’s way forward and key priorities for political engagement.

Analysts say the twin developments signal a coordinated effort between Kenya’s leading political parties to reinforce stable governance and strategic collaboration, potentially laying the groundwork for a formal coalition ahead of the next general election.
