A man identified as Dandez, 33, from Bomet caused a stir at a local market after waking up to news that he had won a staggering KSh 17 million from betting.
The young man spent the entire day celebrating wildly around the market, leaving many residents confused. From Saturday morning until evening, no one seemed to understand why he was celebrating. He neither stopped to eat nor drink water, and his behaviour left onlookers shocked. Some said he appeared possessed or under some kind of spell. Others thought it was an effect of drugs.
“Huyu jamaa amerukaruka uwanja mzima tangu asubuhi akipiga nduru kama wazimu. Hatujui kama amerukwa na akili ama kuna shida gani,” said Mama Sophia, a hotel operator at the market.
“Tunasikia tu akiimba ati, ‘Mimi ni millionaire, nitanunua gari kubwa!’”
