A lawyer has raised concerns over the quality of milk produced by the New Kenya Cooperative Creameries (KCC), questioning whether the product being sold as fresh milk meets the required standards.

In a public statement, the lawyer said he has long relied on Fresh Gold Crown milk from KCC as part of his daily routine, often taking a single glass as breakfast. However, he noted that in recent weeks the milk’s taste has changed and now contains visible sediments, forcing him to strain it before consumption.

He questioned whether KCC could be repackaging reconstituted powdered milk imported from Ukraine and selling it as fresh milk, instead of sourcing directly from local farmers. The lawyer also challenged regulatory agencies, including the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and the Kenya Dairy Board, to clarify whether proper quality checks have been conducted before approving the product.

The concerns have sparked renewed scrutiny of KCC’s production processes, with calls for transparency and higher quality standards to protect consumers and uphold confidence in locally produced dairy products.
