A 35-year-old man from Kajiado County, who resides in the Kitengela area, was last weekend found breaking into a supermarket at night in an attempted theft. He was accompanied by three other men, who were later apprehended after attempting to flee the scene.
The incident was unusual, as the suspects – described as middle-aged men – had allegedly broken into a business owned by a wealthy Kamba woman identified as Mueni. Unaware of what lay ahead, the group reportedly spent the night loading stolen goods into their pickup truck.
At around 2:00 a.m., the alleged ringleader, identified as Bramuel, suddenly collapsed near the vehicle and began crying out in pain. CCTV footage reportedly captured him saying, “I can’t move. I am feeling confused.” His accomplices attempted to lift him, but he remained unable to stand. Despite their efforts, he stayed rooted to the ground, wailing uncontrollably.
In a strange turn of events, the green pickup truck they had used for the break-in also failed to open its doors, preventing the suspects from escaping. This was despite the vehicle being fully loaded with stolen supermarket goods, mostly expensive electronics.
As the situation unfolded, residents began gathering at the scene, with the crowd gradually growing. At around 6:00 a.m., the supermarket owner, popularly known as Mama Mueni, in her small white car, arrived and immediately contacted the police.
