President William Ruto has announced a series of diplomatic appointments, including the nomination of Kosiom Frank Ole Kibelekenya as Kenya’s Ambassador to Copenhagen, Denmark, a posting that establishes a new mission approved by the Cabinet.

In addition to the Denmark posting, the President appointed three deputy ambassadors to key missions abroad. Elias Bare Shill has been assigned to Mogadishu, Somalia, while Ambassador Dr. Joseph Warui has been redeployed to Moscow, Russia. Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Nur will serve as Deputy Ambassador in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The nomination of the full Ambassador to Denmark has been formally submitted to the National Assembly, where it will undergo parliamentary vetting and approval before the appointment is finalized.

These diplomatic moves form part of Presidential Action No. IV of 2026, unveiled on Friday, February 6, 2026, by Felix K. Koskei, Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service. The appointments reflect the administration’s focus on strengthening Kenya’s global presence and enhancing bilateral relations with strategic partner countries.

Officials note that the expansion of Kenya’s diplomatic footprint, particularly with the establishment of the Copenhagen mission, is aimed at boosting trade, investment, and cooperation opportunities while supporting Kenyans living abroad.

The reshuffle underscores the government’s commitment to professionalizing the foreign service and ensuring that missions are led by experienced diplomats capable of advancing Kenya’s interests on the international stage.
