Oburu Odinga has launched a scathing attack on former President Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing him of misleading and ultimately disappointing Raila Odinga during the last General Election.
Speaking on Tuesday during the National Elections Council meeting, Dr. Oburu claimed that Uhuru made grand promises to Raila that were never fulfilled. According to Oburu, despite publicly presenting himself as Raila’s close political ally, the former Head of State failed to translate that relationship into tangible political support for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Oburu alleged that Uhuru did not allocate even a single position within his administration to ODM members, raising doubts about the sincerity of their much-publicised political partnership.
He contrasted Uhuru’s approach with that of President William Ruto, suggesting that Uhuru’s support amounted to little more than empty rhetoric.
“This man called Uhuru had friendship with Raila but interestingly he never offered anything to us, not even an office messenger position,” Oburu stated.
The veteran politician further claimed that Uhuru had significant influence that could have helped secure Raila’s electoral victory through Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance but chose not to fully deploy it.
His remarks are likely to reignite debate over the dynamics of the political alliance that shaped the run-up to the last General Election.
