President William Ruto’s long-time aide, Farouk Kibet, today threatened to freeze former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s bank accounts in Kenya.

Speaking in Malava, Kakamega County, on Wednesday during his tour, Farouk claimed that the former president has been funding Linda Mwananchi rallies across the country with the aim of destabilising the country and President Ruto’s administration.

He further argued that the situation is getting out of hand and, if not checked, could escalate. He promised to ensure that all financial outlets linked to the Kenyatta family would soon be barred from withdrawals.

“Imefika wakati serikali itafunga pesa yako na hakuna kitu utafanya. Kwani wewe ni nani? Si wewe ulikuwa rais na sasa wewe ni mstaafu,” he threatened.

Government operatives have reportedly been directed at Uhuru, claiming he funded the Gen Z June protests and now the Edwin Sifuna-led nationwide rallies that are said to threaten Ruto’s 2027 re-election bid.

Sifuna and his team held their first public Linda Mwananchi rally in Kitengela last weekend and are slated to hold a similar public gathering next weekend in Kakamega.

While addressing the Senate on Wednesday, Sifuna warned the State against the use of excessive force, referencing the incident in Kitengela where two lives were reportedly lost.
