MP Babu Owino on Sunday declared that he and his allies are prepared to run a continuous one-and-a-half-year campaign despite what he termed as resistance, chaos, and threats from the State.
Speaking during an interview with Jeff Koinange on Citizen TV, the youthful Embakasi East MP made explosive allegations against Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, accusing him of sponsoring violence to block their political activities.
Owino claimed that one person was killed during chaos allegedly orchestrated by hired goons. He linked the incident to a press conference held by the family of George Olwandi, whom he alleged was killed by individuals sponsored by the PS.
“I texted Raymond Omollo and told him that he is still so immature to pull such moves,” Owino said, adding that his brother-in-law had been arrested in Kilimani a day before a planned rally and later dropped in Machakos at 4am following public pressure.
The legislator further alleged that more than 200 armed goons had been mobilized at Kisumu International Airport to attack him and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna so that to prevent them from proceeding to Kakamega rally. He claimed the individuals were armed with pangas and knives and were instructed to cause clashes.
MP Owino, an advocate of the High Court, maintained he is ready to defend his claims in court and cross-examine the Interior PS. He alleged that some of the alleged attackers later admitted they had been hired to disrupt the event, while also claiming that certain police officers privately expressed frustration over alleged misuse of their office.
Despite the tensions, Owino insisted their political movement would not be deterred. He announced plans to tour Mombasa after Ramadhan and unveil a campaign timetable running through December, extending into the official election period 2027.
“When you have a cause and a vision, nothing can stop you,” he said, vowing to press on with what he described as a people-driven movement.
Speaking on the matter, Raymond Omollo accused a section of an unnamed opposition politicians for misusing the youths in their rallies and on the streets.
