The Ministry of Education has officially announced the release of the long-awaited 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results, bringing to an end weeks of anticipation among candidates, parents, and schools across the country.

The results were released on Friday, January 9, during a national ceremony held at AIC Chebisaas High School in Eldoret. The event was presided over by Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba and attended by senior government officials, education stakeholders, teachers’ representatives, and school heads.

According to data presented by the Ministry of Education, a total of 993,226 candidates sat for the 2025 KCSE examinations, marking one of the highest candidature figures in recent years. Of these, approximately 270,000 candidates attained a mean grade of C+ and above, qualifying them for direct entry into Kenyan universities under the current placement criteria.

Cabinet Secretary Ogamba lauded the candidates for their resilience and discipline throughout the examination period, noting that the 2025 cohort sat the exams under heightened supervision and improved integrity measures. He stated that the ministry had invested heavily in examination security, data verification, and result processing to ensure credibility and fairness.

“The release of these results reflects our commitment to restoring confidence in national examinations and safeguarding the future of our learners,” Ogamba said. He also urged candidates who did not attain university entry grades to explore alternative pathways, including technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, which continue to play a critical role in skills development.

The ministry further confirmed that placement to universities and colleges will commence immediately through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS). Candidates were advised to access their results through official channels and avoid fraudulent agents.
