Eliud Owalo has officially resigned from his position as Deputy Chief of Staff, Delivery and Government Efficiency, citing his intention to contest the 2027 Presidential elections.
In a statement released later today(Sunday), Owalo explained that following his public declaration to run for the highest office in the land, continuing in his current government role had become untenable. “Following my declaration earlier today that I intend to run for Presidency of the Republic of Kenya in the year 2027, my position as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Delivery and Government Efficiency is no longer tenable. I have therefore resigned from the position with immediate effect,” he said.
Owalo’s resignation marks a significant step in his political journey as he begins to mobilize support ahead of the national campaigns. Analysts note that his departure from government service is a necessary move to avoid conflicts of interest and to fully dedicate himself to the rigors of a presidential campaign.
As Deputy Chief of Staff, #Owalo was responsible for ensuring efficiency in government delivery and oversight of key administrative functions. His tenure has been characterized by initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and streamlining government processes.
Political observers suggest that Owalo’s entry into the race will add a new dynamic to the 2027 elections, with his focus on governance and delivery efficiency likely to resonate with voters seeking reform and improved service delivery.
The political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections is beginning to take shape, and Owalo’s resignation is expected to intensify the contest among aspiring candidates.
A week ago, Lawyer Miguna Miguna also announced his interest to become the next incharge of the country.
