The news was confirmed on Saturday morning by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula through an official communication to the House.
Hamisi, who represented the Amani National Congress (ANC) as a nominated MP, joined the National Assembly following the 2022 General Election.
“It is with profound sorrow that I hereby notify the House and the entire Parliamentary fraternity of the untimely demise of Nominated Member, the late Hon. Denar Joseph Hamisi, MP, who passed on today, Saturday, December 6, 2025, at about 7am,” Wetang’ula said in his announcement.
The Speaker extended condolences to the MP’s family, friends and all who knew him, noting that Hamisi was widely respected for his humility and dedication to public service.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, the former ANC party leader, also mourned Hamisi, praising him as a principled and dependable leader. Mudavadi described the late legislator as a man of integrity whose loyalty and commitment to shared ideals earned him admiration across Kenya’s political divide.
Further details on funeral arrangements and tributes from other leaders are expected in the coming days.
