Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has accused Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Oburu Odinga of unintentionally aiding President William Ruto’s political agenda, warning that internal party battles could weaken the opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a statement shared on social media on Thursday, MP Amisi claimed that while ODM is preoccupied with internal disputes and alleged attacks on party figures, rival political formations are quietly gaining ground. He alleged that youths had been sponsored to target ODM leaders, including himself, Senator Edwin Sifuna, and MP Babu Owino.

Amisi highlighted the recent emergence of new political parties linked to Eliud Owalo and David Ochieng, arguing that these developments, combined with UDA’s steady inroads into ODM strongholds in Nyanza and Western Kenya, could fragment the opposition.

“Somebody should talk to Dr.Oburu to relax, calm down and respect his brothers legacy”.

The Saboti MP called on Oburu Odinga to remain calm and respect the legacy of his elder brother, ODM leader Raila Odinga. He cautioned against rushed political maneuvering, noting that the next general elections are set for 2027, not early 2026.

“Ruto does not need a united opposition; he needs it in pieces,” Amisi said, warning that hasty actions by party leaders risk harming ODM. He urged introspection and strategic planning, emphasizing that Kenya needs a “political renaissance” to safeguard democratic competitiveness and prevent fragmentation ahead of the elections.

Amisi’s remarks come amid growing tensions within ODM, with party insiders calling for unity and careful navigation to maintain relevance against the ruling UDA as the political landscape evolves.
