A massive fire erupted along Jogoo Road near Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) on Thursday night, destroying several roadside shops and triggering panic among residents and passersby.
Eyewitnesses said the fire started at around 9:00 pm next to the Mogas petrol station, at a time when most businesses in the area had already closed. The blaze spread rapidly to adjacent structures, engulfing multiple shops within a short period.
Videos and photos widely shared on social media showed huge flames lighting up the night sky as large crowds gathered at the scene. Some shop owners were seen desperately trying to salvage their belongings, while others watched from a distance as the fire intensified.
The cause of the fire was not immediately established by Thursday night, and there were no confirmed reports of injuries. Authorities were yet to issue an official statement as firefighters worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further.
