The family of celebrated gospel DJ Karumba Ngatia, widely known as DJ Krowbar, has confirmed the death of his wife, Joyce Wanjiru Karumba, who passed away in the early hours of Monday morning.

In a statement released by the family, Joyce is said to have died at 3:00 a.m. on Monday, January 26, 2026, after a prolonged illness that she endured with remarkable faith, resilience, and courage.

The family revealed that Joyce underwent a kidney transplant in mid-2025, a medical procedure that initially showed positive progress. However, complications later emerged, leading to a challenging period of treatment and recovery. Towards the end of 2025, she battled a serious infection that was successfully treated, allowing her to return home after being discharged.

Sadly, her health declined again in recent weeks, prompting her re-admission to hospital, where she eventually passed on.

Affectionately known as “Joy” by those close to her, Joyce is remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a woman of deep faith whose strength inspired many throughout her illness. Family and friends describe her as compassionate, grounded, and unwavering in her belief, even during her most difficult moments.

She is survived by her husband, DJ Karumba, and their three children, Toria, Riri, and Imani.

While expressing deep sorrow, the family said they remain comforted by their faith, believing Joyce is now at peace. They have asked for prayers, love, and privacy as they mourn their loss.

The family also thanked the public, friends, and the media for the overwhelming support shown during this difficult time, noting that funeral arrangements are ongoing and will be communicated later.
