The government has unveiled plans to upgrade the Kyuso–Tseikuru Road in Kitui County, a key transport corridor that leads to Tseikuru, the native home of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

The project is expected to significantly improve connectivity in the largely rural region and ease movement for residents who have endured years of poor road infrastructure.

In a public notice, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) invited bids from eligible contractors to undertake the works, noting that the project will be financed through Development Votes. KeNHA further stated that all interested bidders must participate in a mandatory pre-tender site visit, as outlined in the tender requirements, to familiarise themselves with the scope and conditions of the project.

The Authority explained that complete tender documents are available to prospective contractors through the official KeNHA website as well as the Public Procurement Information Portal (PPIP), ensuring transparency and equal access to information for all bidders.

The announcement has been welcomed by residents of Kitui County, who have long faced challenges accessing essential services due to poor road conditions. Once upgraded, the Kyuso–Tseikuru Road is expected to enhance access to healthcare facilities, schools, markets and other government services, while also stimulating local trade and economic growth in the wider region.
