Rains have resurfaced across several parts of Kenya, with Nairobi experiencing the most significant change in weather patterns as December draws to a close.

Residents of the capital reported a heavy downpour on Sunday, December 28, following days of hot and dry conditions. The rain, which fell in the afternoon and evening hours, disrupted traffic in some areas and provided relief to city residents who had endured rising temperatures.

Early Monday morning, cloudy conditions were observed in Nairobi and neighboring counties, signaling the possibility of continued rainfall. Similar weather patterns were also reported in parts of Central Kenya, the Rift Valley, Western Kenya, and sections of the Coast, where overcast skies and light showers marked the return of the rainy season.

Meteorological experts say the renewed rainfall is consistent with shifting weather systems that typically occur towards the end of the year. They have advised residents to remain alert, particularly in low-lying areas prone to flooding, as intermittent heavy rains could persist.

Farmers in rain-dependent regions have welcomed the development, noting that the rains could boost crop growth after weeks of uncertainty. However, motorists and pedestrians in urban areas have been urged to exercise caution due to slippery roads and reduced visibility.

The Kenya Meteorological Department is expected to issue further updates as the weather situation evolves, with the public encouraged to stay informed and take necessary precautions during the changing conditions.
