Azimio One Kenya Alliance Secretary General Junet Mohamed has sharply rebuked Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka over claims that the State blocked the gazettement of new Azimio party officials, insisting that the coalition’s internal failures – not government interference – are to blame.

In a strongly worded response addressed to Kalonzo, Junet dismissed the allegations as misleading and legally unfounded. He stated that Azimio operates under a binding deed of agreement that was duly deposited with the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP), and any leadership changes must strictly follow the procedures outlined in that document.

“Honourable Kalonzo, as a senior counsel I am sure you know that Azimio has a legal document deposited with the ORPP,” Junet said. “You decided not to follow the provisions of the document to do the changes you purported to have done. Stop blaming other people and follow the right procedure as enshrined in our Azimio deed of agreement.”

Junet further reminded Kalonzo of the coalition’s formation, noting that the same agreement now being ignored took extensive negotiations before it was signed. He claimed Kalonzo spent “nine hours of persuasion” before appending his signature on the day Azimio was formed, underscoring its legal and political significance.

The Suna East MP also accused the former Vice President of political inconsistency, recalling that Kalonzo had publicly declared Azimio “dead” six months ago. “You told us six months ago that Azimio is dead, but now you think you can resurrect it for your own selfish and parochial use,” Junet said.

He concluded by urging Kalonzo to focus on his Wiper Party affairs instead of dragging Azimio into what he termed unnecessary controversy, warning that due process – not public accusations – remains the only legitimate path for coalition reforms.
