Authorities in Migori County are investigating the suspected murder of a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) female officer whose body was discovered at her matrimonial home in Nyahera village, Suna East Sub-County.

The shocking discovery has sent ripples through the local community, raising concerns about safety and prompting law enforcement agencies to act swiftly.

According to police, the officer was found dead under circumstances that raised suspicion, prompting officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to cordon off the scene and begin a detailed forensic probe.

The body was discovered by neighbors who became concerned after failing to see her for several hours and noticing unusual silence at the homestead.

Preliminary reports indicate that the officer had visible injuries, suggesting she may have been assaulted before her death. However, police say the exact cause of death will be established after a postmortem examination. Investigators are also documenting the scene, collecting exhibits, and recording statements from family members and neighbors to piece together the events leading up to the incident.

The deceased, who was attached to a KDF unit outside Migori County, was said to be on leave at the time of her death. Her spouse is reportedly assisting police with investigations, although no arrests had been made by the time of filing this report.

Local leaders and residents have condemned the incident, calling for swift and thorough investigations. Police have urged members of the public to remain calm and report any information that could aid the probe as investigations continue.
