Controversial Lugari Member of Parliament, Nabii Nabwera, has petitioned the courts to order medical assessments for both himself and his predecessor, Ayub Savula.
Speaking to journalists outside the law courts in Nairobi today, Nabwera said he wants the courts, through his lawyer Danstan Omari, to mandate that both he and Savula undergo medical tests at reputable facilities, including Aga Khan University Hospital, Kenyatta National Hospital, and Nairobi Hospital. He argued that independent tests would clarify health claims and accusations leveled against him by Savula.
“But the outstanding prayer, and this is it, is that I want the court to order for a choice of three competent medical facilities, and for me and Savula to be subjected to public medical tests for any complications. I have submitted myself and I also want Savula to show up, because we cannot be pointing fingers blindly,” Nabwera said.
The MP also criticized Savula, now the Kakamega Deputy Governor, accusing him of practicing “old-style politics” based on handouts and lacking a tangible track record.
Nabwera’s move comes after Savula publicly labeled him a criminal and claimed he is an HIV-positive politician unfit to hold public office. Flanked by Omari, Nabwera confirmed that he has filed a suit against the Deputy Governor seeking court intervention.
