DCP Party Deputy Leader Cleophas Malala has defended his absence from recent party activities, insisting that he remains on good terms with his party leader, Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking from his home on Sunday, Malala dismissed claims that he had fallen out with Gachagua, maintaining that the two leaders have no intention of parting ways anytime soon.

He attributed the rumors to government operatives whom he accused of spreading propaganda aimed at weakening the opposition ahead of the next General Election.

“The government now wants to spread propaganda that Rigathi Gachagua and I have fallen out. I want to state clearly that this is government propaganda intended to ensure the opposition is divided. Let it be known that Rigathi and I are together and remain firmly united,” he said.

Speculation had been rife in recent weeks that Malala’s continued absence from key party events, including the unveiling of the party’s new Secretary-General, was a sign of strained relations between him and Gachagua.

However, Malala insisted that the reports were baseless and part of a broader scheme to create divisions within the opposition.

Meanwhile, while addressing party matters during a radio interview, Gachagua claimed that there were moles within his camp who needed to be identified and reviewed, warning that they could sabotage the opposition’s mission to unseat President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
