Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has issued a stern warning to Kenyans, urging them not to be swayed by what he terms a new wave of political deception under President William Ruto.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV yesterday, Dr. Matiang’i described the current administration’s messaging as “Season Two” of lies, building on promises made during Ruto’s earlier campaigns. He drew a parallel with the first season, when the Hustler narrative captivated the nation, claiming billions that never materialized.
“Spare me the drama. This is outright lies. You remember Season One lies were about Hustlers being promised non-existent billions, and now this is Season Two of Singapore lies,” Dr. Matiang’i told the program host, highlighting his view that the government is recycling unfulfilled promises under new slogans.
The former Interior CS also expressed concern that these narratives could mislead citizens into supporting policies and programs that are not grounded in reality. He emphasized the need for Kenyans to critically evaluate political messaging rather than accept grandiose claims at face value.
Political analysts say Dr. Matiang’i’s comments reflect growing criticism from opposition figures and former government officials who argue that the current administration has yet to deliver on its initial pledges.
As President Ruto’s government continues to roll out fresh slogans and initiatives, the debate over credibility and political accountability is intensifying, with Dr. Matiang’i’s remarks contributing to a broader national conversation about promises, governance, and public trust.
Kenyans are now being called upon to scrutinize government claims carefully before embracing new campaigns and policy promises.
