Sheila Chebet, a first-year student at Kenya Medical Training College Nyeri campus, was found murdered in Rafina Estate.
Police have arrested a student from Karatina University who was reportedly the last person seen with her.
The suspect told detectives they had drinks at a Karatina bar before going to a friend’s house, where an argument broke out.
He claimed that while escorting her to Karatina stage, they were ambushed by three men. He allegedly escaped with her Xiaomi Redmi phone, leaving her behind.
The body has been moved to the morgue pending a postmortem examination as investigations continue.
