Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has challenged Treasury Cabinet Secretary John #Mbadi to honour his own remarks and face him in a public debate on the state of the country’s economy. Nyoro says the Treasury chief should “make good his threats” and meet him for an open discussion that would allow Kenyans to get clear answers on key economic concerns.

Speaking on Saturday, December 6, the outspoken MP said he had taken note of statements made by CS Mbadi during a recent appearance on Citizen TV, where the Treasury boss suggested he was ready to debate lawmakers who have been criticising the government’s fiscal policies. Nyoro stated that he is fully prepared to engage the minister on matters touching on the economy, public debt, and the controversial plan to sell part of the government’s shares in Safaricom.

Nyoro emphasized that he is willing to attend any television interview or public forum chosen by CS Mbadi. He added that he has no preferences regarding the venue or the moderator, insisting that the only priority is ensuring Kenyans receive honest and transparent information on the country’s financial direction.

The Kiharu MP maintained that his biggest concern is safeguarding public interest, particularly in relation to state assets such as Safaricom. He said Kenyans deserve full disclosure on the rationale behind the proposed sale of shares and the expected value to taxpayers. According to Nyoro, the debate presents an opportunity for both sides to explain their positions clearly and allow citizens to make their own judgments.

“As long as Kenyans get value for the sale of Safaricom shares, I am more than willing – any day, any time – to avail myself for a debate with CS Mbadi,” Nyoro said. “I heard him calling for my attention, and here I am, ready to take up the challenge.”
