Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has called on President William Ruto’s administration to prioritize service delivery over targeting former President Uhuru Kenyatta in political rhetoric.
Speaking on December 31, Nyoro admitted that he was once part of a UDA faction that frequently criticized Kenyatta’s government while it was in power. Reflecting on his past actions, the lawmaker expressed regret, describing his younger self as overly aggressive and unrestrained. “I can’t run away from responsibility. Given another chance, I would do things differently,” he acknowledged.
Nyoro criticized current government officials for continually attributing national challenges—ranging from the cost of living to education funding and debt accumulation—to Kenyatta, instead of taking steps to resolve these issues themselves.
He questioned the need for repeated references to the retired president in political rallies, suggesting that such attacks distract from meaningful governance.
The remarks come amid heightened political exchanges targeting Kenyatta, particularly following statements by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, who recently claimed that the former president has not yet reconciled with the 2022 election outcome, when his preferred candidate lost to President Ruto.
Nyoro’s intervention reflects a growing call among some leaders within UDA for a shift from blame politics to action-oriented leadership.
