The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has announced plans to embark on a nationwide ‘Linda Ground’ tours aimed at revitalising the party and consolidating its support base following the recent death of its longtime leader, Raila Odinga.

The initiative was unveiled by the party’s new leader, Oburu Odinga, who said the countrywide engagements are intended to reconnect ODM with its grassroots supporters and chart the party’s political direction ahead of the 2027 General Elections. In a message shared on his official social media platforms, Oburu noted that the tours will focus on listening to wananchi, gathering their views, and holding consultations on future strategy, including coalition-building.

According to a circular posted by Oburu, the tour will kick off on January 17 in Malaba, Busia County, before proceeding to neighbouring Kakamega County on January 18. He added that the exercise will cover all counties, with each stop featuring interactive meetings between residents and the party’s top leadership.

“All these engagements will be led by the #ODM leadership as we move around the country to speak with our people and listen to their views on the way forward,” Oburu stated.

The planned tour follows a recent rally in Kibra, Nairobi, where Oburu said he had made a personal commitment to meet party supporters across the country to discuss unity, coalitions and preparations for the 2027 polls.

However, the Kibra meeting was marked by notable absences within the party’s ranks. ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, Vice Chair Godfrey Osotsi, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, and Nairobi politician Babu Owino did not attend the event, raising questions about internal dynamics as the party enters a new phase.

The upcoming nationwide tour is widely seen as ODM’s first major effort to reorganise, reaffirm its presence, and rally supporters in the post-Raila era.
