Siaya Governor James Orengo, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino on Sunday attended a church service at PAG Church, Dagoretti Corner, amid growing speculation about the future of the ODM party.
The four leaders, who arrived together, briefly addressed congregants and supporters outside the church before proceeding with the service. While they avoided making detailed political declarations at the time, they hinted at an imminent and far-reaching announcement once the service concludes.
Speaking to the crowd, the leaders emphasized the need to defend democracy, internal party justice, and constitutionalism, with several of them stating that the country was at a critical political moment that required courage and clarity of leadership.
“We will speak after the service. What we have to say concerns the future of our democracy and the direction of our party,” one of the leaders told supporters, drawing cheers from the crowd.
Their appearance together has fueled rumours within political circles that the leaders are preparing to convene a parallel National Delegates Convention (NDC) as early as next week, where a new ODM leadership structure could be unveiled.
The speculated move is seen as part of escalating internal tensions within the party, with a faction pushing for reforms and greater accountability in decision-making.
None of the four leaders directly confirmed the rumours, but their coordinated presence and messaging have intensified anticipation of a significant political shift in the coming days.
