Raila Odinga’s family has openly defended Senator Edwin Sifuna and MP Babu Owino over the ongoing political misunderstandings in their ODM Party.
It started when Babu Owino failed to be recognized during the funeral service of the late Beryl Odinga. The MC didn’t mention the Embakasi East Member of Parliament despite his conspicuous presence.
However, when EALA MP Winnie Odinga stood to speak, she fully recognized the MP by asking her mother to allow her a minute to ask Babu to just wave from the crowd.
“When we speak about unity we have to understand that it involves loving even those we do not like.
“And that’s why I must ask for a little minute to ask Babu to just wave. That’s my friend Babu over there,” she announced as her mother expressed a smile over the warm gesture.
On her part, Mama Ida Odinga told mourners that, in politics, people don’t hold grudges. She noted that political leaders never hate each other and this should be a learning curve for the rest of the people.
“Don’t be lied to. In politics there is no permanent enmity. These political leaders will quarrel today and tomorrow you see them brainstorming together. If you take their political utterances serious, you will remain alone”.
Ida was seemingly advising ODM members and supporters to not fight among themselves for having different opinions and political stands.
Babu Owino and Edwin Sifuna have mostly been on the receiving end in their ODM Party for their strong political ideologies that seems to differ with the rest.
