By the grace of God and the prayers of supporters, the team behind Linda Mwananchi has safely arrived in Nairobi, confirmed Senator Edwin Sifuna on Sunday.

Addressing the events that unfolded in Kisumu yesterday Saturday, the senator expressed gratitude to all who stood by the team amidst what he described as deliberate attempts to undermine their journey.

In a strongly-worded statement, the youthful politician raised concerns over the security arrangements at Kisumu International Airport, questioning whether the facility can guarantee the safety of passengers.

“How goons were allowed to barricade the airport needs to be explained,” he said, calling on Kenya Airports Authority to clarify the situation.

Sifuna further alleged that flight itineraries from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) were shared with hostile actors within the Ministry of Interior, placing the team at risk. He credited timely intelligence for enabling them to change travel plans and avoid potential harm.

“This is not the sort of country we want to live in. We must change it. We will change it, Inshallah,” Sifuna declared, vowing reforms and improved accountability for citizen safety.

The remarks come amid growing tensions around political campaigns in the country, with Sifuna highlighting the need for stronger security measures for public figures and ordinary travelers alike. He thanked supporters for their resilience and prayed for continued protection as the team continues its work in Nairobi.
