Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino on Sunday visited Kitengela to condole with the family of Vincent Ayomo, who was allegedly shot dead by police on February 15.
In a statement shared during the visit, Sifuna said they were in Kitengela on behalf of the #LindaMwananchi team to stand in solidarity with the bereaved family. According to the Senator, Ayomo was shot hours after a political rally in the area had been violently dispersed by police.
“Vincent was shot dead for no reason hours after our rally in Kitengela had been violently dispersed by police,” Sifuna stated, describing the incident as a needless loss of life.
The leaders maintained that they would continue pushing for accountability over the shooting. Sifuna termed the incident the “latest needless death” and vowed that justice must be served for the deceased and his family.
The visit comes amid heightened political tensions following recent confrontations between opposition leaders and law enforcement during public gatherings. The #LindaMwananchi movement has in recent weeks intensified its activities across several towns, drawing large crowds and occasionally clashing with police over permits and crowd control.
Both Sifuna and Owino reiterated their commitment to pursuing justice through lawful means and called for thorough investigations into the circumstances surrounding Ayomo’s death.
Authorities had not immediately issued a detailed statement regarding the incident by the time of publication.
