The government, through Trade Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui, has dismissed allegations by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua linking President William Ruto to the Minnesota fraud case.
Gachagua had reportedly sought the intervention of the United States to probe Kenya’s leadership over purported sponsorship through funds connected to the Minnesota case—a move that Kinyanjui criticized as reckless, especially given that it targets the very party Gachagua once ran under as a deputy.
“While the province of investigations does not belong to me, the sheer lack of wisdom in failing to distinguish between political differences and matters of grave international significance is alarming,” Kinyanjui said.
He condemned the act as politically motivated, arguing that attempting to embroil the country in international investigations for personal revenge reflects retrogressive and dangerous politics. “It shows raw greed and naivety in handling matters that could have potentially catastrophic consequences,” he added.
Kinyanjui concluded with a scathing analogy, saying, “A child can play with its mother’s breast, but not its father’s testicles,” underscoring the recklessness of Gachagua’s actions in targeting his own country.
