U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a temporary pause on potential military action against Iran, citing ongoing diplomatic engagements aimed at resolving tensions in the Middle East.
According to BBC News, Trump revealed that “productive conversations” have taken place over the past two days between the United States and Iran, focusing on what he described as a “complete and total resolution” of hostilities in the region.
In a statement shared on his Truth Social platform, Trump indicated that the discussions have been constructive and are expected to continue throughout the week. He noted that the tone and depth of the engagements influenced his decision to delay any escalation.
Trump said he had instructed the relevant authorities to postpone any and all military strikes targeting Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period. He emphasized that the pause remains subject to the success and continuity of the ongoing talks.
He stated: “I am pleased to report that the United States of America and the country of Iran have had, over the last two days, very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East. Based on the tenor and tone of these in-depth, detailed and constructive conversations, which will continue throughout the week, I have instructed the Department of War to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period, subject to the success of the ongoing meetings and discussions.”
The development signals a potential shift toward diplomacy, even as tensions in the region remain high and closely watched by the international community.
