Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) chairperson Gladys Wanga has amplified pressure on the William Ruto administration, backing calls by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna for the full implementation of the Ruto-Raila 10-point agenda, including immediate compensation for victims of protest-related violence.
Speaking during a Meet the People tour in Rongo, Migori County, on Wednesday, February 18, Wanga declared that compensation for families of those killed and injured during demonstrations is “non-negotiable.” She urged Members of Parliament to allocate funds without delay, insisting that justice for victims must come first.
“It is a must that we maintain our stand on the 10-point agenda, especially the compensation of victims,” Wanga said, in remarks that mirror Sifuna’s recent hardline stance toward the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The Homa Bay governor further stressed that ODM would not soften its reform demands even as it explores pre-election talks with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). She highlighted youth employment and increased funding for devolution as key pillars of the agreement signed between President Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Her renewed push comes months after the High Court nullified an 18-member panel formed to process compensation claims, stalling thousands of petitions filed by victims.
Wanga maintained that ODM remains united behind its leadership and will only pursue coalitions anchored on equity, inclusivity, and a fair share of government.
