Siaya Senator and also ODM Party leader Oburu Odinga has said the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will continue engaging the government to secure what he described as its ‘fair share in national leadership’, without seeking to displace others.
Speaking on Tuesday at Mamboleo Grounds during the disbursement of NYOTA Funds meant to empower youth, Oburu stated that the party’s approach is based on mutual negotiation rather than exclusion.
“We will push for what rightfully belongs to us, but we are not interested in taking what belongs to anyone else. Our goal is for every Kenyan to receive their fair share of the national cake,” he said.
The senator noted that earlier talks with President William Ruto had already resulted in ODM leaders securing key positions in government, adding that future engagements would focus on gaining even more influence.
He also sought to allay fears within the ruling coalition, addressing Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki directly and assuring him that ODM had no intention of targeting his position.
“Please do not panic. We are not planning to remove you from office or take your seat. You are our friend,” Oburu said, reinforcing his message in Kiswahili that the party is not eyeing the deputy presidency as part of any negotiations.
Present in the event was President William Ruto and other leaders from both political devide.
