Government of President William Ruto had withdrawn security from two senior politicians in Western Region.
Details about this were shared out by the victims – Senator Dr. Bonni Khalwale who is also the Majority Chief Whip in the Senate and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya. Both lost their State security at the time they needed it most ahead of the November 27 Malava by-election.
Revealing the news today Wednesday, Kakamega County senator Dr. Bonni Khalwale accused President William Ruto of withdrawing a total of 6 police officers from his team. Khalwale also revealed that a similar action had happened to his friend Natembeya both who have spearheaded a fierce by-election campaigns in Malava Constituency.
“Where are the six officers assigned to me by virtue of the office I hold in the National Senate? Be as it may, this is not news to me. We have been mistreated before. And even if you do to me what you are planning, I have an able family which will pick it up from where I would have left. Again, other Kenyans will be able to continue with what I am doing. Kenya will have to go on regardless,” Khalwale remarked.
Khalwale and Governor George Natembeya are supporting Seth Panyako on DAP+Kenya, while, the State throws its weight behind David Ndakwa of UDA Party.
Responding to the reports, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen confirmed the withdrawal which he said was necessiteted by the fact that the affected politicians were misusing the police assigned to them.
Mr. Murkomen(CS Interior) explained that his department has received reliable information that the security assigned to both Senator Khalwale and Trans Nzoia Governor Natembeya were aiding armed goons to frustrate peace in the Malava Constituency by-election. For to this reason, the Ministry of Interior had to take immediate action to scuttle their plans.
