Ms Winnie Odinga has spoken about her fallout with some ODM Party members, saying she will always speak her mind when she believes she is right and acting democratically.
The late Raila Odinga’s younger daughter, now playing an increasingly active role in national politics, weighed in on her recent remarks regarding the current Broad-Based Government arrangement, insisting she has no regrets.
“Recently I opened up and I was told I am disrespectful. I always get in trouble any time I speak what I think is right for everybody. But it is what it is. I will always remain forthright and have no apologies to make to anyone,” she stated.
The EALA MP added that her push for the party to remain united and even stronger after her father’s passing should not be misunderstood as being against anyone. She emphasized that ODM must not split, insisting that unity is the only way the party can effectively compete for power in 2027. Without mincing words, she reiterated that the party will continue to field candidates at all levels, including the presidency.
“The party will always have disagreements, but that doesn’t mean ODM is falling apart. Not everybody will think the same, and people are going to compete. Raila taught us what to do. The purpose of a political party is to capture power – all power. ODM must be competitive and field candidates everywhere. But that does not mean the party is divided,” she said.
Winnie also criticised those planning to leave the party over internal disagreements, saying such individuals have strayed from the principles taught by ODM’s founder, Raila Odinga. She maintained that true loyalty means staying and strengthening the party, not abandoning it when disagreements arise.
She made the remarks on Saturday, December 13, in Gatanga, Murang’a County, where she also clarified that there is no tension between her and her uncle, Oburu Odinga, affirming that she holds deep respect for him. #WinnieOdinga #ODM
