Mr. Babu Namwamba has asked the country and, especially, those living in the rurals to stop glorifying poverty and any attempts to console themselves that poverty is part of life.

The poor man’s mentality that poverty can be part of “our lives” is a killer slow poison that has to be washed away from everyone’s mind and the society.

Mr. Namwamba who was addressing a group of people in a hall on Friday Dec 12 noted that, being poor does not only lowers “our esteem but it also deprives a man off his real voice in a society”.

He argued that, as a nation with highly creative minds, everyone must work toward fighting and attacking poverty by all means possible.

“There is certainly neither honour nor glory in poverty. Fighting poverty and guaranteeing dignified life for every single Kenyan must be our individual and collective primary priority!” the government official remarked.

The former Sports Cabinet Secretary advised Kenyans to mobilize resources and buy stakes in State corporations currently being sold. This, he assured, makes part of the best ways of evading hopelessness.

Ababu Namwamba is a trained lawyer who also joined politics at a very young age. Since then, he has remained in every government serving in various positions.

For instance, he has served as a Cabinet Secretary in William Ruto’s government and, today, he is an appointed Kenya’s Representative at the United Nations.
