At least ten people have lost their lives in two separate fatal road accidents reported along the Kericho-Nyamira road. The first crash occurred at the Tombe Bw’arani area in Nyamira County, while the second happened on the busy NakuruEldoret Highway. The tragedies, which took place just hours apart, have left families devastated as police begin investigations into the incidents.

The Nyamira accident happened on the night of Saturday, December 13, involving a PSV vehicle travelling from Nairobi and an oncoming trailer. The collision was so severe that parts of the passenger vehicle were left mangled, making rescue operations difficult for first responders.

Witnesses reported that the force of the impact threw several passengers from their seats, with others trapped inside the wreckage. Emergency crews worked through the night to retrieve bodies and assist the injured as bystanders gathered around the scene in disbelief.

Initial reports indicate that several passengers sustained serious injuries, including two individuals seated in the back row of the PSV who miraculously survived. They were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention.

Police have urged motorists to exercise caution on major highways, especially during the festive season when the number of travellers increases. Authorities also emphasized the need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations as investigations into the cause of the accidents continue.
