Eliud Owalo, Deputy Chief of Staff responsible for Delivery and Government Efficiency at the Office of the President, has officially declared his intention to contest for the presidency in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the 106th memorial service for his grandfather, Prophet Johanna Owalo—the founder of Nomiya Church—held at the church headquarters in Oboch, Kisumu County, Owalo emphasized his commitment to leadership grounded in results.

“Come 2027, I will put myself forward as a candidate for the presidency of the Republic of Kenya,” he told congregants. Owalo cited his reputation as a “performer, results-oriented and willing to take calculated risks” as key strengths that would shape his campaign.

Owalo, who has previously worked alongside political figures such as former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi, and currently President William Ruto, said he is shifting from supporting individual leaders to pursuing a broader development agenda for the country.

He urged residents of Nyanza to focus on “a politics of action, not rhetoric,” outlining ambitious plans to boost infrastructure and economic growth in the region. Among his proposals are expanded water projects, including the Koru–Soin dams, enhanced last-mile water connectivity, and measures to improve food security.

Owalo also called for the completion of the Lake Victoria Ring Road to improve regional trade with Uganda and Tanzania, as well as upgrades to Kisumu International Airport to facilitate direct cargo exports. He proposed setting up processing facilities for fish, livestock, coffee, tea, avocado, and soapstone to enhance local value addition.

Additionally, he advocated for reviving key agricultural sectors, reforming mining to benefit local communities, and promoting genuine multiparty democracy as envisioned in the 2010 Constitution.
