Ezra Olubi, Co-Founder and former CTO of Nigerian fintech firm Paystack, has publicly contested his dismissal from the company, claiming it was carried out prematurely and against internal policies. He made the statement on November 24, 2025, following weeks of controversy surrounding his role at the company.

Olubi was suspended by Paystack’s Board of Directors after allegations of sexual misconduct, reportedly involving a subordinate, circulated online in mid-November. The situation escalated when a series of decade-old, inappropriate tweets by Olubi resurfaced, drawing widespread public scrutiny.

Paystack, acquired by Stripe in 2020, had announced an independent investigation into the matter. Olubi, however, claims his termination on November 22, 2025, occurred “before the supposed investigation was concluded, and without any meeting, hearing, or opportunity for me to respond.”

He described the action as a “clear contravention of the terms of the suspension and Paystack’s own internal policies,” adding that he had cooperated fully with the Board and remained silent initially to avoid interfering with the investigation. Olubi maintains that the conduct circulating online “do not reflect my conduct or the way I have lived my life.”

Olubi confirmed that his legal team is reviewing the termination process to assess its compliance with Paystack’s procedures. He concluded that they “will take the steps they consider appropriate” and that he will not comment further at this time.
