Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party activist and supporter Calvince Okoth, popularly known as Gaucho, has taken his fight directly to Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino’s doorstep.
In a Facebook clip shared on Sunday, December 14, the outspoken Raila Odinga loyalist accused Babu Owino of remaining silent while his blogger, Marverick Aoko, allegedly hurled insults at Raila Odinga’s family both before and after Raila’s death.
Gaucho confronted the MP directly, insisting that he would not blame Aoko for her actions. Instead, he claimed that Aoko was acting under Babu’s influence and funding, which he argued explains the continued attacks while the legislator remains silent.
He challenged Babu Owino to explain to the public why Winnie Odinga has always shown him great respect, yet he has failed to reciprocate.
“Hata juzi Winnie amesimama akakuintroduce kwa matanga wakati kila mtu hakukutaka karibu. Mbona sasa mnamkosea heshima mama yake ambaye kila Mkenya anamheshimu?” he posed.
The self-styled “Ghetto President” went on to absolve Aoko of wrongdoing, saying she may be making the inflammatory remarks merely to earn a living. However, he insisted that whoever is using her should exercise decency and show respect to Raila’s family, especially during this period of mourning.
Gaucho further noted that without the late Raila Odinga, many prominent figures in the country – including Babu Owino – would not hold the positions they enjoy today.
“Hiyo familia imeniosha kwanza mimi. Hakuna mtu alikuwa ananijua kabisa, na hata mimi ni mtoto yatima, kwa hivyo siwezi penda mtu kuwakosea heshima familia ambayo imenitoa aibu,” he said, urging Babu to rein in Aoko and stop the attacks on the Odinga family.
Defending his long relationship with the Odinga family, Gaucho explained that his closeness began through Rosemary Odinga before he was embraced by the entire family, despite his humble background and limited education.
“Babu, unanidharau kwa sababu mimi ni maskini ambaye hakuenda shule na unadhani sifai kupendwa na familia kubwa kama ya Raila Odinga,” he added.
He emphasized that he has no problem being insulted by Babu’s allies or anyone else, as he considers himself “a son of nobody,” but warned that persistent attacks on the Odinga family represent a new low.
Gaucho was responding to a series of accusations from blogger Aoko, who recently claimed he has been involved in an affair with a member of the Odinga family – allegations she says continued even when Raila was alive.
However, these claims remain unverified and cannot be independently confirmed by any credible source.
