President William Ruto sparked laughter during a public event after playfully urging his daughter, #Charlene Ruto, to settle down with a Kenyan man rather than a foreigner.

Speaking at the function, the President joked that his wish was to see Charlene build her life and future with a Kenyan husband. He went on to reveal that Charlene had recently informed him that her previous relationship with a Luo man – whom he referred to as Ochieng – had ended abruptly.

“I wanted to know what happened to the relationship, and she told me the man took off,” Ruto said, triggering amusement among attendees.

“I want my daughter to be married to a Kenyan, not a foreigner. That is my wish. She was dating someone called Ochieng, and when I asked where he went, Charlene told me he left and disappeared,” he added as the audience burst into laughter.

The light-hearted remarks were widely interpreted as a blend of fatherly affection and President Ruto’s trademark political humour, drawing warm reactions from the crowd.
