President William #Ruto was in attendance during the Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party gala night organized during the Saturday #ODM Party 20th Anniversary event in Mombasa.
Also present were all founding members among them Henry Kosgey all who had a good dinner together before each being accorded enough time to address and share their past history with their long time departed party leader, Raila Amolo Odinga.
Henry Kosgey, former Minister and ODM founding chairman, used the opportunity to persuade ODM members to firmly remain in the broad-based arrangement where the late Raila Odinga left them. Kosgey argued that, as the country heads toward 2027 general election, a broad-based coalition should be formed under the stewardship of President William Samoei Ruto.
This was supported by a section of ODM Party MPs who have been siding with Ruto’s continued plans to chant his 2027 political ambitions through the support of ODM Party whose some members are already working with him in his governmnet.
However, some top ODM members are holding a contrary opinion on the same. They think, allowing ODM to join hands with the ruling party will demean the long-standing status of their party which they believe is the largest, strongest and oldest in the country.
Speaking in the anniversary, Dr. Ruto assured ODM members that he will be supporting the party in any way they wish saying he cherishes the good gesture Mr. Odinga accorded him at the times of need. This President Ruto said was a moment to remind everyone that unity of a country is far much better than individual desires.
The UDA Party leader further noted that the broad-based arrangement did not come as an accident but as one of the plans of God for this country. He also signaled that he is looking forward to a day Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka will join him in the current or future government for the sake of the people of Ukambani who have remained in the opposition for too long.
