President William Ruto has hit out at the local civil society sector asking it to respect the decision made by the United States of America(USA) government in thei new funding structure.

Addressing yesterday in Nairobi, Ruto mentioned that this decision made by the USA government will see the new funding go to the Kenyan government and not directly to NGOs.

The head of State asked the industry players and stakeholders not to fault him because this decision was not made or pushed by the Kenyan government.

“The US government decided not to fund NGOs but to deal directly with governments…if you are annoyed, blame the United States, not us,” President William Ruto noted.

This is not the first time the president is accusing the civil rights groups, in 2024 during the Gen Zs protests, Ruto took-on the Ford Foundation saying it was funding chaos in the country.

He directly accused the U.S multi-million organization for working with the local NGOs to distabilize the nation.

On the other hand, many civil societies have been expressing their detest against Ruto’s government which has been targeting them, especially, anytime they fault the way the current administration runs the affairs of the country.

These societies have listed, among other crimes, the rampant kidnappings, killings and illegal arrests against innocent Kenyans who try to carry out their democratic duty either directly or indirectly.

Ruto’s government is also accused of runaway corruption and mismanagement of public resources.
