A wave of by-election victories has reinforced the United Democratic Alliance’s (UDA) political presence across several regions, with the party clinching major parliamentary seats in highly competitive races held on Tuesday.

It started when Leonard Wa Muthende finally took Mbeere North Seat
In Mbeere North, UDA candidate Leonard Wa Muthende emerged victorious after a tight contest that kept voters on edge throughout the tallying process.

Wa Muthende secured 15,819 votes, narrowly defeating Newton Kariuki of the Democratic Party (DP), who garnered 15,417 votes.

The close margin reflects a fiercely contested race that saw both candidates command strong support across the constituency.

Boyd Were and Okoth Win in Kasipul and Ugunja

In Kasipul Constituency, Boyd Were was declared the winner, while Okoth clinched victory in Ugunja Constituency. The two candidates sailed to Parliament with clear leads, marking a significant shift in local political dynamics.

Their victories add to the growing list of newly elected MPs emerging from the by-election cycle.

Hassan Clinches Banissa Parliamentary Seat

Banissa Constituency also concluded its by-election with Hassan taking the win. The seat, previously marred by leadership gaps following electoral disputes, now has a new representative set to steer the constituency forward.

Malava MP By-Election: UDA’s David Athman Ndakwa Wins

One of the most closely watched contests was the Malava Parliamentary by-election, where voter turnout reached 44,473.

UDA’s David Athman Ndakwa won the race with 22,379 votes, representing 50.3% of the total ballots cast.
He defeated DAP-Kenya’s Seth Ambusini Panyako, who put up a strong challenge and secured 20,908 votes (47.0%).

Other candidates trailed at a distance:

• James Shinachi Angatia (Alliance for Change Party) – 284 votes (0.6%)
• Wilberforce Indai Tuvei (Kenya Moja Movement) – 280 votes (0.6%)

• Shivakale Bruce Jason (Entrust Pioneer Party) – 56 votes (0.1%)
• Edgar Busiega Mwanga (Democracy for Citizens) – 50 votes (0.1%)

Ndakwa’s victory solidifies UDA’s continued dominance in Kakamega County politics and positions him as the MP-elect for Malava (2025-2027).
