Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has advised Morris Ogeta, the longtime security aide to opposition leader Raila Odinga, against taking up bodyguard roles for junior politicians, arguing that his experience and stature place him above individual security assignments.

Speaking at Ogeta’s home in Uyoma, Siaya County, Kuria said Ogeta’s skills should be channelled into a professional venture that can benefit many people, rather than being tied to protecting individual leaders. He noted that Ogeta’s years of service to Raila Odinga gave him rare exposure and expertise that should now be institutionalised.

Kuria said it would be inappropriate for Ogeta to work as a personal bodyguard for lesser political figures, insisting that such a move would diminish the value of his experience. “If Baba were to come back and find Morris guarding a small politician, he would be very upset,” Kuria said, adding that no individual leader deserves Ogeta’s services at that level.

Instead, Kuria revealed plans to support Ogeta in setting up a VIP protection and training company, where his knowledge could be transferred to others. He explained that the idea was reached through mutual discussion, with Ogeta expressing a desire to continue doing what he loves while impacting a wider group through training and structured security services.

The former Cabinet secretary said friends and associates would help Ogeta establish the business, including support in training and operations. He described the initiative as a collective effort aimed at professionalising VIP protection and raising standards in the sector.

Kuria also highlighted Ogeta’s close relationship with Raila Odinga, saying his role went far beyond security. He described Ogeta as loyal and deeply involved in Raila’s daily wellbeing, serving as a confidant, assistant and even a physiotherapist. According to Kuria, such depth of experience uniquely positions Ogeta to mentor others, a path he believes aligns with what Raila would have wanted for a trusted aide of many years. #Private Firm #Morris Ogeta
