Kenya has made history as the first African country to host a Tesla Cybertruck, sparking excitement across Mombasa and social media platforms nationwide.

The futuristic electric pickup was spotted cruising through the coastal city earlier this week, drawing crowds of onlookers eager to witness the stainless-steel vehicle in action.

Videos circulating online captured the Cybertruck charging at City Mall in Nyali, with Kenyans stopping to snap photos and share clips that quickly went viral. Many expressed amazement at the sight of the advanced vehicle, speculating about its ownership and journey to Kenya.

The Cybertruck belongs to Berni and Alex, adventurers from the global expedition team CyberLocos, who are attempting a Guinness World Record by driving the vehicle across multiple continents.

In a statement on January 13, 2026, the team confirmed that their African leg of the expedition began in Kenya, making the country the first in Africa to host the iconic electric pickup.

Kenyans in Nairobi also flocked to see the Cybertruck, taking photos with the sleek, stainless-steel vehicle as the team continues its round-the-world journey.

The CyberLocos team explained that their mission is to showcase the Cybertruck’s endurance and performance while giving people around the world a chance to see, touch, and photograph it.

The duo described their vehicle as a three-ton, stainless-steel, bulletproof pickup – one of the most technologically advanced electric vehicles ever built.
