Human rights activist Boniface Mwangi has spoken publicly about the death of Cecil Ouma, who was reportedly shot dead inside the vehicle of Jacobs Fikirini several days ago.
Speaking during an interview with a local television station, Mwangi shared details about his past encounters with the deceased, claiming Ouma had a reputation for intimidating individuals and groups seeking to hold public meetings in the area. He described Ouma as someone who allegedly demanded payments before allowing events to proceed and referred to him as a “dangerous goon.”
“He fought my team several times. He couldnt allow a meeting in that area before he was bribed,” Mwangi said.
According to Mwangi, his first encounter with Ouma was unpleasant and left him convinced that the deceased was accustomed to intimidating event organizers. He alleged that anyone wishing to hold a meeting in the area first had to “settle” Ouma before being allowed to continue with their activities.
While insisting that a thorough investigation should be conducted and that anyone responsible for the fatal shooting should be held accountable, #Mwangi also argued that investigators should establish why Ouma was inside the Principal Secretary’s vehicle at the time of the incident.
Mwangi suggested that one possible line of inquiry is whether Ouma was attempting to solicit money or exert pressure on those in the vehicle, as he claimed the deceased had allegedly done in previous situations. However, he stressed that these circumstances should be established through official investigations.
Cecil Ouma was fatally shot by one of the bodyguards attached to Principal Secretary Jacobs Fikirini. Authorities are expected to continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
