Political activist Kasmuel McOure has been appointed to a role in the Ministry of Cooperatives, just days after the death of opposition leader Raila Odinga, as President William Ruto intensifies efforts to bring the entire ODM into his government.

Cooperatives Principal Secretary Susan Mang’eni announced the collaboration on Thursday, December 18, highlighting that Kasmuel’s involvement is aimed at boosting youth engagement in economic empowerment programs.

“This partnership with Kasmuel McOure, convener of the Broad-Based Youth Front, will help expand the reach of our State Department and ensure more young people access timely information, opportunities, and tools for economic empowerment,” PS Mang’eni said.

On his part, Kasmuel affirmed that his role would be driven through the Broad-Based Youth Front, an initiative focused on connecting young people to economic opportunities. He explained that discussions with the Ministry are centered on linking youth to timely information, enterprise support, and the existing tools within the State Department for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

“Our focus is on connecting more young people to timely information, enterprise support, and the tools available within the State Department for MSMEs,” Kasmuel stated.

Observers say Kasmuel’s appointment signals President Ruto’s continued strategy to court opposition figures into key government positions following Odinga’s passing, strengthening his influence across former ODM networks.
