Paul Ng’eno, the brother of the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno, has died after a long illness, his family has confirmed.

Paul died on Friday, August 21, 2026, just hours after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua visited the family and pledged to settle his Ksh1.8 million hospital bill.

According to the family, Paul had been battling an illness for an extended period and was receiving treatment in Eldoret at the time of his death.

Reports indicate that he had been undergoing treatment following a motorbike accident some time ago that affected his spinal cord and throat area.

Paul had recently undergone surgery and was reportedly in stable condition as doctors prepared him for discharge. However, his condition deteriorated unexpectedly.

“Unfortunately, his condition deteriorated a few hours ago, and he sadly passed away this evening,” the family stated.

His death comes 174 days after his younger brother, Johana Ng’eno, died in a fatal helicopter crash on February 28, 2026.

Johana died alongside five other people when the Airbus H125 helicopter they were travelling in crashed in Chepkiep Village, Mosop Sub-County, Nandi County, at around 4:45pm.

The helicopter reportedly crashed amid heavy mist and poor weather conditions, striking three trees before tumbling and bursting into flames. All six people on board died in the accident.

During his visit to the Ng’eno family home in Mogondo, Narok County, on Friday, Gachagua also pledged to construct a mausoleum in honour of the late MP.

Gachagua, who leads the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), has continued to call for investigations into Johana’s death, including by Scotland Yard and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Paul grew up alongside five siblings and was the only brother of Johana and the only surviving son of the family matriarch, Mary Temas, popularly known as Mama Mary.

Their father, Ngong Ngeno Ole Kisiara, died years ago. Johana often honoured his father’s legacy by incorporating his name into his public identity.

Paul is survived by his sisters Elizabeth Chumo and Sarah Temas. Another sister, Janeth Chepkosgei, died before Johana.
