Wolves Fall to West Ham as Championship Produces Plenty of Drama

Tuesday night delivered an entertaining round of English football, with several high-profile Championship and League One fixtures producing goals, surprises and dramatic comebacks.

The biggest result came at the London Stadium, where West Ham United stunned Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-2 in the Championship. Wolves had started the season strongly, but they were unable to maintain their momentum against a West Ham side that took its chances clinically.

Divine Mukasa was the star of the night, scoring twice for West Ham. The 19-year-old midfielder struck his second with a spectacular long-range effort. Jarrod Bowen also got on the scoresheet from the penalty spot, while Konstantinos Mavropanos added West Ham’s fourth. Mavropanos also scored an own goal that gave Wolves hope. Marshall Munetsi was the other Wolves scorer as the visitors eventually went down 4-2.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Derby County claimed their first win of the season, defeating Portsmouth 2-0 at Fratton Park. Sammie Szmodics opened the scoring before Lars-Jørgen Salvesen sealed the victory in the second half.

Birmingham City and Southampton shared the points in a 1-1 draw. Southampton took the lead through Keven Schlotterbeck in first-half stoppage time, but Birmingham responded through August Priske, whose 55th-minute header earned the hosts a point.

There was also a surprise at the bet365 Stadium, where Stoke City beat Norwich City 1-0. Ethan Galbraith scored the only goal in the 13th minute, giving Stoke their first Championship points of the season.

In League One, Sheffield Wednesday came from behind to beat Wycombe Wanderers 2-1. Cauley Woodrow put Wycombe ahead, but Louie Barry equalised before Jamal Lowe converted a penalty to complete the comeback.
